At Guru Nanak Model Senior Secondary School, a special assembly was organised to mark the festivity. Jasleen Kaur of Class X threw light on the importance of the festival. A song ‘Deepawali Manayi Suhani’ was sung to entertain all. A number of activities were held. Students of Class III to V got involved in an inter-house diya decoration competition and girls from Class VI to VIII participated in an inter-house ‘thali’ decoration. Those of grade IX and X exhibited their talent in decorating different types of items. A rangoli competition was also organised. Principal DP Thakur said every festival should be celebrated with enthusiasm.

Green Grove School

Green Grovians celebrated an eco-friendly Diwali with an aim to save the environment. For this purpose, the school organised a rally to Khanna in which students gave convincing speeches to enhance the knowledge of masses regarding eco-friendly Diwali. They stressed on not bursting crackers and planting more trees and lighting earthen lamps. A debate contest themed ‘ban on crackers a right decision’ was also organised. —TNS
