In view of the exams of students, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pradeep Kumar Agrawal has asked managers of all religious establishments to keep the volume of loudspeakers low so that students preparing for exams are not affected.

Further, the marriage palaces have been ordered to restrict the volume of DJs during functions.

The Deputy Commissioner gave the reference of the letter issued by the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) Chairman Kahan Singh Pannu, in which he had asked all Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and three Commissioners of Police (CPs) to take concrete steps for implementing the orders in their areas.

He mentioned about the edict passed by the Sri Akal Takht Sahib on November 23, 2005, in which it had ordered all management committees of the gurdwaras that no one should use loudspeakers if it inconveniences public and the sound of loudspeakers should be restrained to the gurdwara premises. The DC has also asked the officials to hold meetings with committees of all religious places and convince them to keep the volume of loudspeakers within the premises of the religious places.
