LUDHIANA: The police have arrested a man and his brother for firing shots at his wife and for thrashing her.

Ludhiana, February 2

The police have arrested a man and his brother for firing shots at his wife and for thrashing her. They have been identified as Harbhajan Singh and his brother Gurbhej Singh, both residents of Chiti Colony, Bhattian.

Harjit Kaur told the police that she had separated from her husband, Harbhajan, for the past three years due to some dispute. On February 1, her husband came to her house and started hurling abuses at her and also thrashed her. When her son Harpreet Singh and nephew Gurvinder Singh asked her husband to stop thrashing her, he (accused) got furious.

Later, his brother Gurbhej brought his .12-bore licensed rifle and fired shots at her. She and her son rushed inside the house to save their lives.

The police arrested her husband and his brother under Section 336, 427 and 323, IPC, and the Arms Act. — TNS
