Ludhiana, June 18

An expert talk on “Smart Manufacturing” was held for faculty, industry and students at Mechanical Engineering Department of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) here on Tuesday. The talk was delivered by Dr Kuldip Singh Sangwan, professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani.

Dr Kuldip Singh Sangwan explained how smart manufacturing (SM) technology-driven approach utilised Internet-connected machinery to monitor the production processes. He threw light on the concept of smart factory, which is a flexible system that could self-optimise performance, self adapt to and learn from new conditions in real and near-real time and autonomously run entire production.

Dr Kuldeep Singh visited the mechanical engineering department.
