The city residents are a worried lot due to snatching and loot incidents on the city roads. It seems that the police are unable to control such incidents. Now, the miscreants have targeted a cyclist and an accident victim. The police have registered cases against the unidentified accused.

In the first incident, three miscreants managed to snatch the cycle of a factory worker who was going towards the Focal Point from Sector 39, a few days ago. The bike borne miscreants hit their bike into the cyclist and then managed to flee with the cycle.

21-year-old Geetanshu of Sector 39 said miscreants had flashed a sharp-edged weapon to stop him but he started peddling fast to protect himself. The miscreants then hit their bike into Geetanshu's cycle to snatch his cycle.

“As they hit my cycle, I fell. I stood up to save my life and started running away. However, I had left the cycle there. When I came back after sometime, the miscreants had managed to escape with my cycle,” he said.

A case under Sections 379-B (snatching and use of force) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC has been registered against the miscreants at Moti Nagar police station on Sunday. ASI Baldev Raj said they would scan CCTV cameras to trace the accused.

In another case, the miscreants managed to steal the bike of an accident victim. In his complaint, Rajesh Kumar stated that an auto coming from the wrong side hit into his bike at 33 feet road on July 19 morning and he fell down.

“As I was injured, 3-4 persons came to my help and helped me to get first aid. Meanwhile, a person had taken the key from me to lift my bike at the road side. When I went back to take my bike, I learned that my bike had been stolen. I suspected that my bike was stolen by the same person who had asked me to give the key to park the bike on road side,” he said.

A case under Section 379 (theft) of the IPC has been registered against the unidentified accused at Daba Police station. ASI Paramjeet Singh is investigating the matter.
