Ludhiana, November 6

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has extended the validity of voluntary disclosure scheme (VDS) for domestic (DS), commercial (NRS) and agricultural (AP) connections till November 30.

A circular (56/2019 dated October 31, 2019) issued by the PSPCL Chief Engineer/Commercial says that the VDS, launched on August 27, 2019, for regularisation of excess connected load of consumers, which had expired on October 31, 2019, has been further extended till November 30, 2019, on the same terms and conditions laid down at the time of announcement of the scheme.

In the VDS, which was introduced in accordance with the orders of the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC), big relief had been provided to AP consumers (having tubewell connections) by slashing the service connection charges by more than 50 per cent to Rs 2,500 per BHP for additional load only.

The scheme was to be applicable to DS connections with sanctioned load up to 50 kW and NRS consumers with load up to 20 kW. Both the DS and NRS consumers were allowed to get their load extended up to 100 per cent under the VDS.

A provision had been made in the VDS that both the DS and NRS consumers would be entitled to 50 per cent rebate in service connection charges (for additional load only) and the charges would be payable in accordance with the provision of Regulation 9.1.3 of the Supply Code – 2014 read with the cost data approved by the PSERC.

The DS and NRS consumers would have to pay security (consumption) as stipulated for spot billing and other than spot billing consumers.

A provision has also been made in the VDS that required augmentation of service line, cable, transformer and the power system for the load extended under the VDS for DS, NRS and AP consumers shall be carried out by the PSPCL at its own cost.

Service connection charges under VDS

Domestic supply (DS): Rs 225 per kW (up to 2 kW), Rs 500 per kW (above 2 to 7 kW), Rs 750 per kW (above 7 to 50 kW), Rs 875 per kW (above 50 kW to 100 kW)

Non-residential supply (NRS): Rs 500 per kW (up to 7 kW), Rs 800 per kW (above 7 to 50 kW)

Agricultural power (AP): Rs 2,500 per BHP along with Rs 200 per BHP security (consumption)
