The police today swung into action in the wake of Congress leader Manjit Singh’s killing at Castle’s Barbeque at the Pavilion mall a few days back. Six FIRs were registered against the owners, managers and workers of eateries for not adhering to the timings.

The first FIR was lodged against the owner and manager of the R2P restaurant situated on Ferozepur Road in Grand Walk by Sarabha Nagar police. Its owner Varun Bagga and the manager have been arrested under Section 188, IPC. Investigating officer Madan Lal said the police received secret information at 12.40 am that a party was going on in the restaurant. As per the orders of CP Rakesh Agrawal, no restaurant or bar can remain open after 11.30 pm.

Meanwhile, the Division 5 police registered five FIRs for the same violation during raids last night.

The police have booked Domino’s Pizza Kipps Market manager Mayank Singh of Durgapuri Haibowal and its worker Rachpal Singh of SBS Nagar. Tanish Kumar of Mata Vaishno Colony, owner of Shakti Om Dhaba situated near Hero Bakery Chowk, has also been booked.

Vishujit Parsad of Krishna Nagar, owner of a “pan” shop near Aarti Chowk has been booked for keeping his shop open after 11.30 pm.

In a raid conducted at the TRP bar and restaurant, the police arrested its manager Madan Lal Rawat, workers Surinder Thakur, a native of Himachal Pradesh and at present resident of Ghumar Mandi, and Iqbal Singh of Phulanwal. The TRP owner Rahul Garg escaped.

In another raid, the police arrested Deepak Chaurasia of “Chaurasia Pan” located near Ansal Plaza.

The Commissioner of Police yesterday held a meeting with the owners of bars and restaurants and hinted that whosoever would not follow the guidelines would face FIRs.
