Ludhiana, January 7
As manual building maps would not be accepted from January 15, a joint training session on online approval of building maps was held for architects and engineers at the MC’s Zone A on Monday.
However, the Council of Engineers, raised questions over the session, claiming that online building plan system was allegedly incomplete system being adopted by the Department of Local Government.
Kapil Arora of the council said, “We have written to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary about the ‘incomplete’ online system.”
“The department has decided to stop manual submission of building plans from January 15. However, the company hasn’t properly incorporated the software Punjab Model Building Bylaws-2018 notified in November 2018,” he said.
Meanwhile, members of the Ludhiana Architects Association said, “The engineers are allowed to prepare plan for limited size or small plots. Thus, there should be separate training workshops for Council of Architects. The online map approval system should be implemented in a right manner as it is good decision of Local Government,” said chairman of Ludhiana Architects Association Karamjeet Singh.
Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter chairman Sanjay Goyal said, “An expert trainer from the government explained designs and drawings required. Architects have welcomed this step of the Punjab government.” — TNS
