Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged the Opposition parties to make the Monsoon Session of Parliament productive and said the government will get an opportunity at new wisdom if the MPs debate and discuss.

Wrapping up the two-hour meeting of party leaders called by the government on the eve of the session starting on Wednesday, the PM said, “If you debate and discuss the government can also reconsider its decisions and learn new things.”

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar quoted the PM as saying that the people of the country want the houses to run.

“Let’s leave no stone unturned to ensure the houses run,” the PM said, as quoted by the minister.

Opposition parties unequivocally demanded a law on lynching and a look at the solution of reservations in higher educational institutions

“Issues is farm distress and unemployment are also there so is Kashmir and the law and order situation there,” said AAP leader Sanjay Singh who told the PM that the centre cannot run Delhi by the writ of the LG and as per the SC orders the Centre should let the Delhi government work.

The SP, BSP, RJD raised the issue of quite dilutions and demanded that the reservation policies be restored in educational institutes.

Even as the government sounded a positive note on allowing all debates, CPM Leader Mohd Salim said the government’s lack of response to outstanding issues was a concern.

“TDP will again press for the non confidence motion because their demands were not addressed in the inter session”.

On the issue of election of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, MoS Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel said it would be the best of the post was filled by consensus.
