New Delhi: Heat-wave conditions are “very likely” to persist over parts of northwest and central India till May 27, says the IMD. Amid concerns over twin cyclones affecting the movement of southwest monsoon, conditions are “very likely” to become favourable for its further advance into South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood during the next 72 hours, it says. The maximum temperatures on Wednesday rode “markedly past normal” (5.1°C or more) at several places in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and “appreciably above normal” (3.1 to 5°C) at most places in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan and some parts of Jammu and Kashmir. As of now, no sign of relief can be expected for at least next four to five days, say meteorologists. Meanwhile, conditions are becoming favourable for further advancement of much-awaited monsoon.
