The Punjab government on Monday accepted that there were deaths in the state due to overdose of drugs.

In written reply to AAP MLA Aman Arora's question, Health Minister Brahm Mohindra said chemical examination confirmed 56 deaths in financial year 2018-19 and 11 in 2017-18.

Amritsar reported the highest with 11 deaths in 2018-19, while Tarn Taran was second with nine deaths.

The staggering figure from the overdose of drugs has left the state worrying and people struggling with rage, sadness and anxiety.
