The 10-day saas-bahu opera in the sarpanch polls at Begampura village ended on Sunday with daughter-in-law Kamaljeet Kaur winning the contest with 47 votes.

Kamaljeet’s had locked horns with her mother-in-law and ex-panch Vimla Devi and the poll result ended the bitter fight on a happy note.

After much convincing and cajoling by villagers, Vimla Devi welcomed Kamaljeet home by garlanding her and offering sweets.

On her part, Kamaljeet took blessings from her mother-in-law and touched her feet. Kamaljeet's father-in-law Mohan Singh, too, joined in to welcome the victorious ‘bahu’.

Vimla Devi polled 41 votes while Kamaljeet bagged 88 votes.
