Dera-Sikh clash: 56 acquitted

Sangrur: A local court on Friday acquitted 56 persons, who were accused of damaging a Dera Sacha Sauda Naam Charcha Ghar (congregation centre) and assaulting dera followers Sadha Singh and Ajaib Singh at Sunam in April 2008.



Sangrur: A local court on Friday acquitted 56 persons, who were accused of damaging a Dera Sacha Sauda Naam Charcha Ghar (congregation centre) and assaulting dera followers Sadha Singh and Ajaib Singh at Sunam in April 2008. The case had been registered on the duo’s complaint, almost a year after dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim had kicked up a row by allegedly imitating Guru Gobind Singh. “The court of Additional Sessions Judge Sanjeev Joshi acquitted the accused,” said defense counsel Narpal Singh Dhaliwal.
