Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday claimed that the drug menace had assumed alarming proportion since the Captain Amarinder Singh government took over more than two years ago.

Sukhbir addressed a series of meetings on the first day of his three-day tour of the Jalalabad Assembly segment. Sukhbir alleged that Congress leaders were hand in glove with drug mafia and corrupt police officials had even started home delivery of drugs.

He claimed that 218 youths had died due to drug overdose during the Congress regime. “Even young girls have started taking drugs with peddlers having a free run in the state”.

He also alleged that the Congress government had withdrawn all welfare schemes launched during the SAD-BJP regime.
