Hitting out at the Congress government for “spending crores of rupees on its media blitz spreading misinformation on its achievements”, SAD leaders Bikram Singh Majithia and Daljit Singh Cheema said most of the schemes highlighted by the state were of the Union Government and in fact, Capt Amarinder Singh should thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these schemes rather than taking credit of these.

Talking to media persons here, Cheema contested that Amarinder Singh had claimed to have fulfiled 141 of the 161 promises, saying that he was not only befooling the people, but also exposing the party leadership to ridicule, including former PM Manmohan Singh, whose picture adored the party manifesto.

Majithia said while Capt Amarinder submitted a list of 141 promises fulfiled by him to Sonia Gandhi, his government mentioned only 21 achievements.

Cheema said MGNREGA, Sarbat Sehat Bima Yozna, PM Awas Yozna or toilets for the downtrodden etc are all Central schemes and Capt Amarinder had contributed nothing to such programmes.

“Ever increasing farmer suicides in the state are a testimony that the farming community is in absolute distress and no relief promised bythe Congress manifesto has pulled the peasantry out of economic duress. The tall claims by Capt Amarinder by taking an oath on Gutka Sahib and promises including eradication of drugs within four weeks were a farce,” he alleged.
