CHANDIGARH:Jiwanjot Singh scored his ninth first-class century as Punjab scored 253/4 on Day 1 of their Ranji Trophy Group B match against Madhya Pradesh in Indore today.

Jiwanjot Singh scored his ninth first-class century as Punjab scored 253/4 on Day 1 of their Ranji Trophy Group B match against Madhya Pradesh in Indore today.

After Punjab lost two early wickets, Jiwanjot shared two crucial partnerships to lead Punjab to safety. The opener, unbeaten on 123, hit 15 fours. He added 83 runs with captain Mandeep Singh (30) and 131 runs with Gurkeerat Singh (66).

In Rohtak, Himanshu Rana (86) and opener Nitin Saini (64) shared a patient partnership to help Haryana to 263/9 despite brilliant spells by Goa’s Krishna Das (5/69) and Lakshay Garg (3/95) in their Group C match. — Agencies
