MOHALI:Himachal Pradesh are in a commanding position after reducing Punjab to 195/8 in their second innings on Day 3 of their Group C Ranji Trophy match.

Himachal Pradesh are in a commanding position after reducing Punjab to 195/8 in their second innings on Day 3 of their Group C Ranji Trophy match.

At stumps, Punjab were trailing Himachal Pradesh by 111 runs with Shubek Singh Gill (39) and Sandeep Sharma (12) holding fort. The hosts were bundled out for a paltry 84 runs in their first innings. Following on, Punjab made a relatively better start with opener Abhijeet Garg scoring 48 runs. Gurkeerat Mann scored 33 runs with the help of six boundaries and one six.

For Himachal Pradesh, Gurvinder Singh was the most successful bowler with figures of 4/43. Mayank Dagar took 2/42 to leave the hosts reeling at 195/8 in 78 overs. At Jammu, Uttar Pradesh defeated Jammu and Kashmir by six wickets as Suresh Raina played a crucial unbeaten knock of 66 in the second innings.

At Agartala, hosts Tripura needed another 58 runs for an outright win against Haryana with only three wickets in hand.
