DIRBA (SANGRUR): The Indian men set up the title clash with Pakistan after a convincing win over England in the semifinals of the fifth World Kabaddi Cup at the Shaheed Bachan Singh Yadgari Stadium here today.

The Indian men set up the title clash with Pakistan after a convincing win over England in the semifinals of the fifth World Kabaddi Cup at the Shaheed Bachan Singh Yadgari Stadium here today.

The defending champions will face Pakistan in the final for the third year in a row. The Indian women thrashed Pakistan 47-19 and will take on New Zealand in a replay of last year’s final. The finals will be played on December 20 at Badal village, while the third-place play-off matches will be played at Barnala on Dec 19.

In their semifinal today, India thrashed England 54-33 after leading 29-14 at half-time. In the other semifinal, Pakistan trounced Iran 56-28.

In the women’s section, India had no trouble in dispatching Pakistan. The defending champs led 26-5 at half-time before wrapping up the match 47-19. New Zealand defeated Denmark 41-20.
