Irrigation in the Punjab.



THE latest issue of the Government Gazette publishes His Honour the Lieutenant Governor's review of the report on Canal Irrigation in the Punjab now takes the first place amongst the provinces which are actively engaged in the construction of irrigation works. At the end of March, 1915, there were in operation 18,534 miles of channels, 4,204 miles of canals and branches and 14,330 miles of distributaries. They irrigated altogether 8,4,19,886 acres in the year as compared with 7,783,230 acres in the preceding year.
