Boundary wall of illegal colony, showroom razed

BATHINDA: The building branch of the Municipal Corporation on Tuesday took action against an illegal colony and a commercial building.

Bathinda, November 13

The building branch of the Municipal Corporation on Tuesday took action against an illegal colony and a commercial building.

It is learnt that the colony and building come under the military area, whose map can’t be approved and even a no-objection-certificate (NOC) can’t be issued.

Earlier, the MCB had issued notices, but despite this, construction work was going on, due to which the building branch team on Tuesday went to the spot and demolished structures with a JCB machine.

Building inspector Anu Bala said the construction of one showroom on the Mansa road was going on. Earlier too, they had stopped the illegal construction a few times, Bala added.

The showroom owner was issued notices twice and he had assured them that he would stop the work and would not build the boundary wall.

However, taking benefit of the Diwali holidays, the owner had started work of laying roof on the showroom. Taking strict note of this, the MCB demolish it.

She added that the plot was in the name of Rajinder Singh and earlier, its map was rejected as it came under military area.

Similarly, someone was demarcating plots in an illegal colony near ITI Chowk on the Mansa road, but the MCB officials demolished the boundary wall of these plots.

She said they didn’t know who the owner of the colony was as nobody was there at the spot and they have not received any application for getting the colony regularised.

MCB building inspector Navneet Khokhar, Sohan Lal and Priyanka were also present there. — TNS
