Child labourer rescued from hospital canteen

BATHINDA: After receiving a written complaint, a team of the Labour Department conducted a raid at a private hospital in the city and rescued a child working as waiter at the hospital canteen.

After receiving a written complaint, a team of the Labour Department conducted a raid at a private hospital in the city and rescued a child working as waiter at the hospital canteen.

The child has been identified as Ramesh (13), a native of Uttrakhand, who stays at Ganesha Basti.

Baljeet Singh, labour inspector, said, “We had received a written complaint on the child helpline number. Thereafter, we conducted a raid and rescued the child. The child was living with his elder sister at Ganesha Basti.”

SHO, Kotwali police station, Davinder Singh, has registered a case under the Child Labour Act against Rakesh Kumar, who is the owner of the canteen at the hospital, on the complaint of labour inspector Baljeet Singh. — TNS
