Bathinda, July 20
The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh on Friday took out a protest rally in the city from Mall Road to the District Administrative Complex. After reaching the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Sangh district president Hardev Singh, Sita Ram, Rajman Yadav submitted a demand letter to the Deputy Commissioner.
Addressing a rally, the protesters said in 2013, the Punjab Building Construction and Adarsh Worker Board had taken a decision to get sheds built from the labourers near the Maharaja Agarsen park on the Amrik Singh road. At that time, even the Labour Department and the Municipal Corporation, Bathinda, had written various letters to each other over this and the government had given a cheque for Rs 20 lakh for this to the MCB.
In September 2015, the SAD MLA, along with the MCB Commissioner, had even laid the foundation stone of these sheds, but after that we did not know whether the MCB had spent that Rs 20 lakh as till date no shed had come up there.
They said due to the non-construction of sheds, labourers were very disappointed and were irked over the working of the MCB. So, they were demanding that the sheds should be made on the Amrik Singh road at the earliest.
