Woman commits suicide, 4 booked

A Congress Sewa Dal member distressed over some monetary dispute, ended her life by consuming a poisonous substance at Gopal Nagar here. The police have registered a case against four persons on the basis of the statement of deceased’s son.

A case has been registered against Amarjit Singh Gill, a resident of Bhisiana, Electricity Board employee Munshi Ram Ram, a resident of Naruana, Kaka, a resident of Naruana road and Mandeep Singh, a resident of Partap Nagar for abetment of suicide.

In the statement given to the police by the deceased’s daughter Ritu, it was stated that her mother Raj Rani, a resident of Gopal Nagar had consumed some poisonous substance on Monday night. Her family members took her to the nearby RMP doctor from where she was referred to Civil Hospital where she was brought dead.

She also stated that her mother had taken Rs 50,000 from Munshi Ram. He was charging Rs 10,000 as interest every month. Her mother was unable to pay back the amount due to which Munshi Ram was threatening them to sell their house.

Her mother had also taken Rs 15,000 from Amarjit Singh and he was taking Rs 5,000 as interest every month. Even he and his associate Kaka also came to the house three days back and threatened her mother.

Her mother had taken clothes worth Rs 15,000 on credit from the shop of Mandeep Singh for her marriage. At that time she had given three cheques which were in the name of her husband Parshu Ram. The cheques bounced and a case was filed against Parshu Ram after which he was sentenced to jail.
