The number of dengue cases is rising day by day in the district. On Friday, the number of confirmed dengue cases reached 477.
According to the Health Department, the cases of dengue are more prevalent in the city as compared to rural areas.
A Health Department official said the figures might be high as some people would have preferred to go to major towns for treatment or testing.
Meanwhile, a visit to various parts of the district presented a sorry state of affairs. The garbage was lying strewn, proving to be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
