Chandigarh, December 28

For the first time, the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) will launch a 4BHK scheme in the city.

Sources said the consultant appointed by the board has finalised the drawing of the scheme and a presentation of it was given before CHB Chairman Ajoy Kumar Sinha recently.

Seven-storey towers planned

  •  Under the proposal, four categories of flats — 4BHK, 3BHK, 2BHK and EWS — will be constructed.

  • Seven-storey towers to house 770 flats. The towers will have two-level basement parking.

  • For the first time, a CHB housing scheme will have 4BHK units, 7-storey building, two levels of basement parking

Under the proposal, four categories of flats will be constructed at Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (IT Park). These include 4BHK, 3BHK, 2BHK and EWS categories. This is for the first time that the CHB is planning to construct 4 BHK flats in a housing scheme. With the UT relaxing the norms, the towers will also have two-level basement parking.

It is also for the first time that two levels of basement parking have been planned for a housing scheme.

The flats will be constructed as seven-storey towers for which the UT has given its nod. Earlier, the CHB had constructed flats in up to six-storey buildings. The CHB is coming up with the project on the land it got from Parsvnath Developers after the latter’s efforts to launch a housing scheme failed. The land was given to the developer in 2005 for Rs 821 crore to construct residential flats, but the project did not take off due to a controversy over the boundary of the city and Panchkula.
