Nine persons were injured in a clash between two groups over DJ being played by a family living near a government school at Jagatpura village here late on Friday night.

According to information, the DJ was hired by the family to celebrate the birthday of a member as well as the eve of Eid.

Meanwhile, the family living in the neighbourhood objected to it and asked them to decrease the volume of the DJ, which led to a heated argument between both parties.

According to sources, both parties attacked each other with sticks and swords. On getting information, a Sohana police team rushed to the spot and managed to disperse the crowd of over 50.

Nine persons from both sides suffered injuries in the clash. They have been admitted to the GMCH-32, Chandigarh. The injured persons have been identified as Dinesh, Manu, Rekha, Sandeep, Sohail, Tasleen, Rashid and Arshad among others.

Their condition is stated to be out of danger.

Investigating officer ASI Sikandar Singh said both parties quarrelled over the volume of the DJ. It led to heated arguments, resulting in injuries to nine persons. 

He said: “The family, which organised the party, is changing its statement. Yesterday, family members told us that they were celebrating a birthday party. The family today informed us that it was celebrating the eve of Eid”.

Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Sikandar said: “Statements of the injured persons will be recorded after receiving their medical reports on Monday.

A case will be registered after recording their statements. We will take action against persons found guilty.”
