As many as eight people were cured of COVID-19 and discharged on Friday in the Union Territory of Chandigarh while six new cases were reported, taking the total count of cases in the UT to 381.

With the eight new discharged cases, the total number of cured patients in the city has risen to 315.

The new cases — 56-year-old woman, 30-year-old man, 59-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man — the five family contacts belong to Ambala but were staying in a rented accommodation in Sector-38, Chandigarh.

Of the five members, two are working in Ambala and had come in contact with an already COVID-positive patient.

Two more family contacts have been shifted to isolation in PGI and will be sampled in Panchkula.

The sixth case is of a 65-year-old woman, a resident of Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh. She has five family contacts, all of whom have been shifted to GMCH-32 and will be sampled.

The eight discharged cases include 36-year-old woman, 65-year-old woman and 25-year-old woman from Bapu Dham Colony; 49-year-old man and 28-year-old man from Manimajra; 29-year-old woman and four-year-old boy from Daria; and a 45-year-old man from Sector-47.

The total number of active cases in the UT now stands at 60 with only six deaths reported so far.
