Mohali, March 24

The women’s taekwondo team of Chandigarh University bagged four medals in the recently concluded All-India Inter-University Championship. The women’s team won one silver and three bronze medals, while the men’s team won one bronze medal. 

In the women’s 49kg kyrogi event, Pooja won the silver medal. She defeated opponents from Jodhpur University, Punjabi University and University of Delhi before losing 10-17 in the final to a taekwondo player from MDU Rohtak. In the 53kg category, Khushboo Yadav defeated a taekwondo player from Kerala University 19-11 to win the bronze medal. She had victories over opponents from Manipur University and Guru Kashi University Bathinda. Harjinder Kaur won the bronze medal in the 67kg category, while Raksha Goswami won bronze in the poomasia event. In the men’s category, Rajkumar won the bronze medal in the under-74kg kyrogi category by defeating an opponent from Arhar University, Bihar 13-9. —TNS
