Chandigarh, March 5
District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Chandigarh has directed Air India to pay compensation of Rs 20,000 to each of five members of a family for delay in their flight.
Sanjay Garg, a city resident along with four other of his family, has filed a complaint against Air India through advocate Amarbir Dhaliwal.
He said they had purchased five Air India tickets from New Delhi to Port Blair and vice versa for celebrating New Year’s Eve of 2019 at Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
He said on January 1, 2019, while returning from Port Blair, a dispute arose between a pilot and the airline as the airline has not kept a business class seat for the pilot, causing three hours’ delay to land in New Delhi.
Due to this, he and his family missed a train from New Delhi to Chandigarh for which they have paid Rs 5,725. They have to book tickets for another train. Therefore, they suffered a loss of Rs 5,725 and harassment.
