Concerned over the slow pace of revenue realization, Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal today directed officials to achieve the budgeted target of Rs 150 crore.
The Mayor issued the directions while presiding over a meeting of the Revenue Realisation Committee of the Municipal Corporation. He said every wing in the civic body had been given specific targets and officials should ensure these were achieved.
Goyal also gave instructions to expedite the recovery of property tax and warned that action would be taken against the officers and employees concerned if the recovery did not meet the target fixed for the current fiscal. He said last year, the target was Rs 25 crore, but the recovery was only Rs 11 crore. He said a target has been set to recover property tax of Rs 25 crore this year, of which Rs 3.82 crore had been realised in four months. He said about Rs 100 crore was to be recovered from property tax defaulters.
