Legal literacy clubs upgraded at two schools

MOHALI: Justice TPS Mann of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and executive chairman of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, along with Justice Rajiv Narain Raina of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and administrative judge, Sessions Division, Mohali, inaugurated the upgraded legal literacy clubs at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Phase 3BI, and Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sohana.

Justice TPS Mann of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and executive chairman of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, along with Justice Rajiv Narain Raina of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and administrative judge, Sessions Division, Mohali, inaugurated the upgraded legal literacy clubs at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Phase 3BI, and Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sohana.

The clubs were upgraded under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority.

On the occasion, Justice Mann said the Punjab State Legal Services Authority had provided free legal aid to 25,202 needy persons from April last year to January this year. Nearly 4,400 paralegal volunteers and lawyers offered the legal aid.

The legal literacy clubs were opened in all government schools of the district. As per instructions of the National Legal Services Authority, five clubs in each district have to be upgraded by providing appropriate furniture, study material, books and computers. — TNS
