Man ‘robbed’ of Rs 80K, debit card near Lalru

Three unidentified persons allegedly robbed a Singhpura electrician of Rs80,000, a debit card and other valuables on the pretext of giving him a lift near Lalru today evening.

Anil Kumar, who works as an electrician for a contractor in Bishapura, alleged that he was about to board a bus to Delhi from the Singhpura chowk around 5 pm today when he met a person who was also going to Delhi. The suspect suggested him to take a shared taxi in which two occupants were already there. On the way, one of the suspects started threatening him and snatched his bag near Dera Bassi and then they left him near Lalru.

Victim Anil Kumar said he had Rs80,000 cash in his bag and a purse with a debit card and some important document.

Zirakpur SHO Onkar Singh Brar said: “The incident did not take place in our jurisdiction.”

Dera Bassi SHO Jatin Kapoor said, “As of now, we have not received any complaint in this regard. After receiving the complaint, the matter will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken.”
