Panjab University centres to remain closed today


Chandigarh: Panjab University has notified that the institutions/regional centres/rural centres/affiliated colleges located in Punjab will remain closed on April 8 on account of the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nabha Dass. Panjab University campus offices/teaching departments and affiliated colleges in Chandigarh will though remain open. All meetings and examinations will be held as per schedule.

Scimago ratings: PU retains top spot

Despite slipping a couple of places to 19th position, Panjab University has retained the top slot in the internationally recognised Scimago rankings among the region's universities. In the latest report published by the Scimago Lab, PGIMER, Chandigarh, with all-India 20th rank is at No. 2 in the region, while Shoolini University follows at No. 3. The Solan-based university has is 37th in all-India ranking.

Winners, participants awarded

The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) felicitated the participants and winners of the drawing competition which was based on 'Covid-19 awareness and its Management'.

‘Brevity is the soul of short stories’

"Brevity is the soul of short stories," Prof Pankaj Malvia, Department of Russian languages, said while addressing the budding story writers from the Department of Urdu here on Wednesday. Speaking at the first ever online story telling contest organised by the Urdu Department, Prof Malvia explained that a short story always looks at life as a complete whole.

Week-long NSS camp concludes

Volunteers were educated about the 'waste management' and 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Abhiyan' of the Government of India on the concluding day of the week-long special NSS camp at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Sector 36, here. Dr Vandana Sharma and Dr Sandeep Kaur, Assistant Professors, Department of Microbial Food Science and Technology, informed participants about various solid waste management techniques.TNS
