The two courses have been planned keeping in mind the demands of society and future needs of the industry. Chairperson Prof Archana R Singh said, “Both courses will include a mandatory internship in media houses to provide the students with hands-on experience of working as a media professional.” She said syllabus of the courses had been designed keeping in mind the ever-changing media industry.

The media industry is seeing a boom thanks to the shift online; news portals and web based television and radio channels have opened a new avenue for budding journalists. The spurt in radio channels, both commercial and community has also led to job creation in the arena.
