Chandigarh, January 12

The Chandigarh police reunited two missing children – a three-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl – with their families here on Saturday.

Playing the Good Samaritan, Amrinder Singh of Naya Gaon reached a police station along with the boy, whom he had found roaming near the Sector 8 gurdwara. Amrinder Singh apprehended that the boy could go in wrong hands and hence, reported the matter to the police. The police then circulated a photo of the child on a WhatsApp group of the Chandigarh police. A wireless message was also flashed through control room about the missing child.

Meanwhile, a man approached the police regarding his missing child, who happened to be the father of the missing child. The boy was handed over to the parents after verification and formalities.

In another case, the police found an eight-year-old girl, Chandi, near Samadhi Gate, Mani Majra on Friday. The girl could not disclose her name or address due to mental illness. A special team of the police was deputed to trace the parents of the girl. Her parents — Puran and Jugamta — were found near Fauji Dhaba, Mani Majra, and the child was reunited with her family.

The Chandigarh police is running ‘Operation Muskan-IV-2019’ from January 1 to January 31 for tracing out missing children/persons and special team has been deployed for the purpose.
