Police shielding driver: complainant

  • Complainant Raman Singh said his father was not carrying any stick and had only abused the driver during the brawl. He alleged that the police were trying to shield the driver.

The victim, Kuldeep Singh Lal (80), sustained injuries on his left arm and hand. The suspect has been identified as Sahab Singh, who is also stated to be a relative of the CRPF official.

In his complaint to the police, the victim’s son, Raman Singh, stated that the suspect, who was washing the vehicle, allegedly attacked his father with a sharp weapon following an altercation. The victim sustained injuries while trying to save himself.

The SHO of the Kharar (City) police station said the victim had used a stick to attack the driver following which the latter became violent and attacked Kuldeep with some blunt weapon. He said as per the medico legal report, no sharp weapon was used in the incident as there were no deep cuts on the arm of the victim. He said they were waiting for two other reports from the hospital and would register the case against the driver if anything serious was found in them.

Raman Singh said his father was not carrying any stick and had only abused the driver during the brawl. He said his father was still an athlete and physically fit, so he did not need any stick general used by elderly persons. He alleged that the police were trying to shield the driver.
