Chandigarh: An unbeaten half-century by Aryan Verma helped St Joseph’s School, Sector 44, beat hosts Shishu Niketan School, Mohali, by 69 runs in the Evolve U-14 Cricket Tournament final on Monday. Batting first, St Joseph’s rode on Verma’s 46-ball 76 to score 166/6 in 20 overs. Vansh Bansal added 37 runs to the total. Nikhil was the most effective bowler for Shishu Niketan, claiming 2/34. In reply, the hosts could manage only 97 runs in the allotted overs. Isahn Gaba returned with figures of 3/10, while Pranav Kaushal, Aksh Rana and Kavya Chandroker claimed a wicket each for St Joseph’s. Gursimran (29) was the top scorer for Shishu Niketan. Aryan Verma was named the Best Batsman, while Pranav Kaushal was adjudged the Best Bowler of the tournament. TNS
