The School of Punjabi Studies, Panjab University, organised a two-day national seminar on “Punjabi language, literature and culture: Time and dialogue” here on Monday
Bhupiner Singh Khaira, former dean of languages, Punjabi University, and Gurpal Singh Sandhu, dean of languages, PU, presided over the event.
Jaswinder Singh, former Dean, Academics, Punjabi University, Patiala, delivered the keynote address.
Yog Raj, chairperson of the School of Punjabi Studies, said the purpose was to understand new challenges in the domain of Punjabi language, literature and culture.
The topics such as ‘Dalit and feminist literature in Punjabi’, ‘Changing scenario of Punjabi literature, language and culture’, ‘Challenges of Punjabi language and culture’, ‘Humanity in Punjabi literature’ and ‘Concept of Punjabi in Punjabi literature’ and ‘New poetic cognition of Punjabi poetry after 1990’ are being covered in the seminar.
Yog Raj said the selected papers would be published in a book by the publication bureau of PU.
Prof Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, PU, and Gurbhej Singh Guraya, Secretary, Punjabi Sahitya Akademi, Delhi, were the chief guests.
