As many as 1,47,070 voters of the total 2,42,530 cast their ballot in the Kharar Assembly segment of Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency yesterday. This means Kharar recorded 60.64 per cent voter turnout.
According to information, 85 per cent voters cast their vote at booth no. 74 in Government Elementary School, Milkh. On the other hand, minimum voting of 40 per cent was recorded at booth no. 227 set up at APJ Public School, Kharar.
The trend shows that this time, voters had no enthusiasm regarding voting and no voter was seen telling others that whom he was going to vote. However, polling was very peaceful and silent. People in rural areas were more enthusiastic to vote than urban areas.
Kharar SDM Vinod Kumar Bansal said a total of 256 polling booths were set up in the Kharar assembly segment. He said EVM machines from all booths reached late at Government Polytechnic College, Khuni Majra, Kharar, yesterday night. He said all EVMs had been stored in a well-built room in the college.
