Zirakpur, July 12
A 29-year-old labourer allegedly committed suicide by jumping off an under construction building at Metro Towers in Peer Muchalla here on Thursday. The deceased was indentified as Sukhvinder Singh, a resident of Peer Muchalla, Zirakpur.
The investigation officer (IO) at the Dhakoli police station, ASI Ramesh Lal, said the police came to know about the incident at 7 am on Thursday. The deceased was an alcoholic and used to sleep on the second floor of the building, he said. His ribs were broken and there was injury mark on one side of his face, he added.
Meanwhile, the police handed over the body to family members of the deceased after conducting an autopsy and initiated an inquest proceeding into the matter at the Dhakoli police station. — OC
