Man electrocuted in Zirakpur

ZIRAKPUR: One person was electrocuted while another suffered burn injuries after a canter came in contact with power cables in a godown area in Zirakpur.

One person was electrocuted while another suffered burn injuries after a canter came in contact with power cables in a godown area in Zirakpur.

The police said the incident took place yesterday. The 64-year-old man, identified as Inderpal Singh, died when the vehicle he was helping getting it reversed came in contact with electricity cables hanging low over a link road in a godown area here.

The police said another driver, Harjinder Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra who was also standing near the spot, ran towards Inderpal in order to save him and suffered an electric shock too. He was injured in the incident.

Both of them were rushed to different hospitals by some passersby. The police said Inderpal Singh, who was admitted to the GMCH, Sector-32, Chandigarh, died while undergoing treatment.

Acting on the complaint of Paramjit Singh, the police have registered as case under Section 304-A (Causing death by negligence) against accused driver Joginder Singh, a resident of UP, at the Zirakpur police station. He was yet to be arrested, the police concluded.
