Man held for sexually harassing minor girl

The police arrested a Panchkula resident for sexually harassing a minor girl on Thursday. A complaint in this regard was lodged at the Women police station by the girl’s mother. The police said as per the complaint, the accused, identified as Manoj, after finding the girl alone at home, sexually harassed her.

When the girl raised an alarm, the accused immediately fled from the spot, the police said. The girl’s mother said when she came back home, her daughter narrated the entire incident after which they visited the women police station to lodge a complaint.

Inspector Rajesh Kumari, Station House Officer (SHO) of the women police station, said, “After reviewing the matter and on the basis of the complaint, we have registered a case under Sections 4 and 16 of the Protection of Child from Sexual Offences Act. The accused was arrested from his house and will be produced in the court on Friday.”
