Trans-Ghaggar sectors’ residents air grievances

Issues in trans-Ghaggar sectors were at the heart of grievances shared by the general public at ‘janata darbar’ presided over by Haryana Speaker and Panchkula MLA Gian Chand Gupta at community centre, Sector 23, here today. All officials concerned, including Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja, were present at the darbar.

Several people submitted their applications to the local MLA and appealed to him to take steps to provide some solution to their problems.

While mentioning shifting of the Sector 23 dumping ground, better transportation for trans-Ghaggar sectors, street lights, proper marketplace, cycle sharing service, enhancement, RWA representatives and other related issues, residents living in Sectors 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 accused the MLA and his predecessors of neglecting their issues.

As law and order has been an issue for residents living in trans-Ghaggar sectors they demanded deployment of more policemen and patrolling in their area.

A few residents, who had they had taken off from their work to attend the janata dabar, were unhappy as the MLA arrived a bit late at the hall.

While narrating his grievance a representative of a resident welfare society (RWA) in Sector 26 said, “We are feeling neglected from years altogether. It seems like we are yet to be urbanise as a lot many civic amenities, which residents living across Ghaggar are getting, have yet to reach us.”

“Senior citizens have been demanding a direct bus from Sector 28 to PGI in Chandigarh as they have to reach there for medical services or regular check-ups,” he added.

Speaking on the issue of shifting Sector 23 dumping ground, he said, “Lives of residents living in trans-Ghaggar sectors have become hell due to foul smell emanating from Sector 23 dumping ground. It’s like a slow death. Better infrastructure and other modern facilities are of no use if we don’t remain alive.” While replying to him, Gupta, said, “I had a meeting with stakeholders and officials concerned. Good news will come very soon.”

Once an opponent

Mukhtiar Singh, who unsuccessfully contested against MLA Gupta in Assembly elections, also had a grievance related to setting up a naturopathy centre in the Chandimandir area. He expressed his disappointment with officials concerned as they were neglecting his issue from a long time.

From PM kisan scheme to no action in snatchings

While some even came up with complaints like they were not getting Central government’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme (PM kisan) benefits at janata darbar, others said the police was not taking action in FIRs or cases filed by them.

HSVP vs MC

The issue of differences between the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and the Municipal Corporation (MC), Panchkula, was apparent at janata darbar in full public view. A lot many people said when they approached either the HSVP or the MC for any work their officials said it was not in their jurisdiction. As a result, majority of works had remained pending and they had to bear the brunt.
