To upgrade its security system, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is guarding Delhi Metro and Indira Gandhi International Airport, has recruited more than 17,000 constables, Including 500 male constables to be deployed at DMRC Delhi. The male are trained at Regional Training Centre (RTC) of Deoli, a remote town in Rajasthan, said PRO Hemendra Singh.

Giving a boost to women’s presence in the force, CISF has recruited around 1600 women constables – a first by CISF, as per a CISF official. These lady constables are trained at the RTC of Tamil Nadu (Thakkolam).

According to a senior CISF officer, about 780 lady constables will be deployed at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), 100 at IGI Airport and rest at other airports of India.

The training of the battalions began on May 2017. In 39 weeks of rigorous training, they were trained in subjects like internal security, major-minor acts and airport security along with the knowledge of human rights, the officer added.

They were also trained in field craft, field operation and tactics, intensive weapon training – like 9 mm pistol and carbine, 5.56 mm INSAS, 7.62 mm AK 47, 5.56 mm INSAS LMG, 9 mm MP 5 and Glock Pistol; wireless and communication and battle inoculation. Trainees were made aware of emerging threats and challenges to national security and techniques to effectively respond during contingencies.

Especially, looking into more drunken passengers boarding Delhi Metro, the new-recruits were given training on handling them at the Deoli RTC, where CISF has developed a replica of a Metro station along with cutout of a train and other equipment seen at a Metro station.

While there are four others RTCs – Bhror, Barwaha , Mundoli and Bhilai, it is only at Deoli that the CISF has developed a replica of the Delhi Metro system as officials said most of the recruits coming in were not aware of the rail system.
