New Delhi, January 19
Legacy war has erupted in poll-bound West Bengal over Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday celebrations with the Centre today deciding to mark January 23 as “Parakram Diwas” annually and the TMC demanding the day be called “Desh Prem Diwas”.
The slugfest over the issue will intensify with the PM set to launch Netaji’s 125th birth anniversary celebrations from Kolkata on January 23 and CM Mamata Banerjee announcing parallel plans. “There is no cause for politics here. We hope we can jointly celebrate Netaji’s birth anniversary,” minister Prahlad Patel said. — TNS
