New Delhi, February 4

Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) VK Saxena have been involved in a letter war against each other on the state of health infrastructure in the Capital.

Saxena had, on Saturday, written a letter to the CM, expressing his disappointment at the “dismal state of affairs” in Delhi’s major hospitals, highlighting the recent lapses, leading to mortality as well as the remarks of the Delhi High Court in this regard.

The L-G told the CM to submit a report on the health infrastructure at the “earliest”.

CM Kejriwal, in his letter, said he had directed the Health Minister to prepare a report on the same.

In response to the letter of the L-G of Delhi, expressing his concerns, he said, “I had already asked you to remove Health Secretary Deepak Kumar because he is not only incompetent but also does not follow the written and verbal orders of the minister.”

He said how would an elected government function if senior bureaucrats refused to obey ministerial orders.

He also asked for the removal of Finance Secretary for not disbursing the payments on time, saying, “Similarly, earlier Finance Secretary Ashish Verma stopped the medicines, lift test, doctor’s salary, ‘Farishte Yojana’ and Delhi Arogya Course Scheme and the entire health system got paralysed.”

“I told you many times during personal meetings and also in writing that he openly refuses to obey the orders of the Finance Minister,” he added.

He blamed both secretaries for the current condition of the health infrastructure, saying they openly refused to obey the orders of the ministers.

“In the interest of the people of Delhi, please remove these two officers as soon as possible,” he added.
