Dheeraj Dhoopar

Kundali Bhagya-fame actor Dheeraj Dhoopar always wanted to become a Punjabi movie star. It is only now that he can manage the time between his full-time commitment to a daily soap and his passion for acting. Dheeraj is in Chandigarh to shoot for his third music video, where he will be seen donning a turban for the first time.

Also, Dhoopar is in talks with filmmakers from Punjab while trying to find the right script for his Pollywood debut. “I have the face of a Punjabi actor. With my new song, people will be convinced too,” he informs. Already exploring the eateries of Chandigarh, he adds, “The moment we touched down in Chandigarh, I was in love with the place. It is the second time I am visiting the city for a music video shoot. Being from Delhi, I have much love for winter but couldn’t really enjoy it in the past year as I couldn’t visit my home town because of Covid-19. Chandigarh has given me a chance to relish the winter chill. I am enjoying the shooting in the middle of sarson ke khet.”

Punjabi love

Although committed to television, Dheeraj has no qualms signing a web series; in fact, he thinks it is necessary to grow as an actor and be there on all mediums. “Music videos too, especially Punjabi ones have a great reach. I am brushing up my Punjabi-speaking skills to do justice to any I am offered in future. I am conversing with family as well as friends from Delhi in Punjabi only.”

About the music video which has Shibani Kashyap on board as the singer, he says, “The storyline is beautiful and people who are habitual of seeing me as Karan Luthra in Kundali Bhagya will be surprised by my new avatar.”

Sufna, Jindua and Qismat were on top of his mind when asked about Punjabi movies he likes. Interestingly, his love for Punjabi movies goes back to the 1985 Punjabi movie, Maujaan Dubai Diyan. And what genre he wants to start out with in Punjabi movies? “I believe rom-com will suit me, as the audience accepted me as Karan Luthra with open arms,” he signs off.
