The police claimed to have busted a flesh trade racket in Mandi Gobindgarh town. The cops arrested 18 women, including two kingpins, and 6 men red-handed during a raid at two separate places.

SSP Amneet Kondal said the police got a tip-off that two women were running a sex racket from rented houses in the residential localities of Ajnali and Jassran area of Mandi Gobindgarh town and women, girls and men visited these houses in a large number.

She said a team led by Harpal Singh, SP, (Investigation), Sukhwinder Singh, DSP, Amloh, and Mohinder Singh, SHO, Mandi Gobindgarh, conduct the raid on these houses.

Sukhwinder said the police did a recce of the area. After confirmation, they conducted the raid on both locations and arrested 18 women and 6 men red handed from different rooms.

He said during preliminary investigations, it came to fore that two women were running the racket from rented houses and used to take hefty amount from customers.

He said they had been booked under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act – 1956. They would be produced before a court.
