Harveer Singh stunned top seed Anhad Singh to enter the boys’ U-14 second round in the Roots-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) National Ranking Championship at Zirakpur today. Harveer won 6-4 6-4.

Samarvir Garg defeated Deepansh Jhorar 6-2 6-4, while Hardik Khanduja drubbed Sukhpreet Singh 6-0 6-3. Aksh Jood registered 6-2 6-1 win over Gunnzit Singh in the opening round.

Chaitanya Bansal downed Shaurya Jishtu 6-3 6-4, while Hridhay came from behind to beat Satvik Singla. Hridhay lost the opening set 2-6, but held his nerve to win the next two sets 7-6(4) 10-5 and seal a spot in the second round.

Kanvarpreet Singh prevailed 2-6 6-4 10-5 over Hriday Pandey. Aryan Jolly edged out Udhbhav Kaplish 7-5 6-2 and Divyam Sharma trounced Aditya Bhatnagar 6-2 6-4.

Jashandeep Singh had an easy first-round outing against Viraj Singh. He won 6-2 6-4. Harwin Singh overcame Daksh Kapoor 3-6 7-5 10-7, while Gurbaaz Singh thrashed Tanishq Jood 6-1 6-1.

Samarpit Bhatia registered a 6-1 6-0 win over Angad Singh Rangi. Anuj Pal dispatched Rian Rattan 6-2 6-3 and Om Kaushik ousted Paras Verma 6-3 6-4.

Sehajpreet advances

In the boys’ U-12 competition, Sehajpreet Singh marched into the second round with a convincing 6-3 6-3 win over Kirtarth Singh. Aditya Rathore stunned Shaurya Goyal 6-4 6-2, while Daksh Kapoor defeated Pragun Thakur 7-5 6-2.

Abhinav Chaudhary pulled off a 6-1 6-0 win against Ayaan Modi. Guhaan Mehta downed Shaurya Dhingra 6-4 6-1, while Armaan Walia dismissed Amish Sharma 6-0 6-1.

Gopal Jee Sihag edged out Amrat Chaudhary 6-2 6-4 and Vismay Nair packed off Abhinav Sangra 6-2 6-4. Rushil rallied from a set down to beat Rian Rattan 3-6 6-1 10-6.

Vansh Sharma humbled Kanav A Bansal 7-6(3) 6-2, while Romair shunted out Rudra Pratap Singh 6-2 6-0 in the opening round. Akshit Ratti was awarded walk over against Param Sidana.
