Palwal, February 21

Four men were arrested in connection with an illegal sex determination racket during a raid by the police and the Health Department in the district yesterday.

The accused — Ombir, Kartar, Parveen and Ravi, all residents of the district — have been booked under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT) Act.

A spokesperson for the department said the accused were arrested they were preparing to take the decoy customer for the sex-determination test to Dadri district in Uttar Pradesh. He said Rs 40,000 taken by the accused for the deal was also recovered.

The accused have been remanded to three days’ police custody, said a police official.
